Jehu. What an intriguing man. God used his reckless and courageous zeal. But his heart (like so any before him) was not sold out for God.
The historian writes, "Jehu eliminated Baal worship from Israel." And then two sentences later he adds, "Yet Jehu was not careful to follow the instruction of the Lord God of Israel will all his heart."

This speaks so well to one-dimensional pursuits of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteWe are quick to look for things that God agrees with us about and then go hard after those things.
The difficulty is that if that one things is not Jesus, we tend to develop a one-dimensional pursuit of things surrounding God, but often not God Himself as the center.
