Jeremiah 44-45

These people aren't even blushing about their rebellion. "As for the things you told us from Yahweh, we are not going to listen. Instead, we're going to do everything we said we would."  No matter where they run and no matter how tough they talk, God will make them face their rebellion and receive what they deserve.

  1. WOW! I just jumped in to this OT reading. I can tell I haven't been reading enough OT to be reminded of God's strong demands to OBEY HIM, WORSHIP HIM, etc.! What jumped out at me, was that God's people felt like they had it made when they worshipped other gods - they had food, no disaster, etc. We can be deceived in this world as well... worshipping anything but God and feel like we "have it made" (family, careers, cars, houses, etc etc). But God's people claimed that once they quit worshipping the "other gods", that things went down hill - plagues, no food, etc. Makes me wonder... did they merely quit worshipping other gods but didn't actually change to worshipping GOD? We must certainly do more than just give up our false gods.. WE MUST TURN TO HIM! The other point to me is that even if they were worshipping God after turning from their "other gods", and things weren't going well... so be it today, just following God doesn't make all things perfect here on earth.
