What is to happen when the "prophets" prophecy lies to the people? The people actually love it this way! But God always holds out hope. "For I know the plans I have for you...to give you a future and a hope" (29:10-14). Don't take that verse out of its context. It is not a blanket promise, but is for the people taken to captivity who respond to the discipline of the Lord!
