Exodus 13-14

Look for the emphasis on fathers telling their children about the great things God was doing for them.  That's the pattern: Each generation is to tell the story of deliverance to the next generation.  Who is hearing of the greatness of our God from you?

And then there's the epic parting of the Red Sea.  Fantastic!  Even the Egyptians were forced to offer the stunned confession .. "Yahweh is fighting for them!"

God seemed to be saying, "I will do whatever it takes in order to rescue My people!"  And He proved that  about 1,500 years later!

Read it here.

  1. The story of Moses and Pharaoh has many similarities to Revelation. The Israelites were living in bondage to Pharaoh, who would not let them go to worship God in the land promised to their forefathers. So, God sends plagues and His wrath is poured out on the land and people (except God's people). Pharaoh is unrepentant and defiant to the end, like an incarnate Satan. Finally, after an epic battle, Pharaoh's army is crushed and God's people are released from their bondage to worship in a new land flowing with milk and honey. One day in the future, after God's wrath and judgement have been poured again, we will also be redeemed by a covenant promise from God through Jesus Christ. We will be set free from this physical domain to live in a new earth where we will be privileged to worship the King of the universe in spirit and truth. We should all be looking forward to that day!
